ULM and Loyola Chicago Advance to CBI Championship Series

ULM and Loyola Chicago will meet in the best-of-three Championship Series of the eighth annual College Basketball Invitational, beginning on Monday.
In Monroe, La., Tylor Ongwae and Majok Deng scored 22 points apiece with Deng also pulling down 11 rebounds to lead ULM to a 71-65 win over Vermont.
ULM (23-12) also received 14 points from James Samuel.
Vermont (20-14) was paced by Ethan O’Day, who had 16 points and seven rebounds. Dre Wills and Kurt Steidl netted 11 points each.
In Chicago, Ill., Devon Turk posted 15 points and six rebounds and Loyola Chicago used a strong defensive effort in recording a 63-48 win over Seattle.
Loyola (22-13) also got 15 points from Earl Peterson. As a team, the Ramblers held Seattle to just 4-of-17 shooting from three-point range and limited the Redhawks’ leading scorer, Isiah Umipig, to just six points on 2-of-12 shooting from the field.
Seattle (18-16) was led by William Powell and his 12 points. Jadon Cohee added 10 points.
The best-of-three Championship Series tips off on Monday in Chicago before heading to Monroe for Games Two and Three, if necessary, on Wednesday and Friday. The entire Championship Series will air on CBS Sports Network with Michael Reghi and John Griffin calling the action.
