Northern Colorado advances with an 87-84 win over UNC Asheville

DAYTONA BEACH – Twelfth-seeded Northern Colorado came from behind to earn an 87-84 win over No. 13 seed UNC Asheville to earn the right to play in the Roman CBI semifinals on Tuesday.
With three minutes to play, Matt Johnson’s layup gave the Bears an 83-82 lead they would not relinquish as Drew Pember’s 3-point attempt hit the rim as time ran out. Daylen Kountz led all scorers with 29 points to go with six assists. Dru Kuxhausen had 18 points and Bodie Hume had 15 points and seven rebounds for Northern Colorado. Pember and L.J.Thorpe paced Asheville with 24 points each with Pember also pulling down 11 rebounds. Northern Colorado will take on UNCW in Tuesday’s first semifinal game.Share this Post
