Waves Overwhelm Chanticleers in CBI Final
March 24, 2021
DAYTONA BEACH – Pepperdine led from start to finish in capturing the 13th annual College Basketball Invitational with a 84-61 win over Coastal Carolina in the Final.
Pepperdine’s Kessler Edwards earned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player honor, averaging 19.7 points per game over the three games.
To eliminate excess travel, the CBI shifted its traditional campus site format to a neutral site destination at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. The CBI was played with 8 teams in a tournament format (without the normal best of three Championship Finals). The CBI performed over 300 COVID tests on all players, coaches, and event staff without a single positive result.
