Cavanaugh scores 27 to lead GW to CBI win

WASHINGTON, D.C.. – Tyler Cavanaugh scored 27 points and George Washington withstood a tremendous road game from Toledo before earning a 73-69 win in the First Round of the 2017 CBI presented by Five Four.
Cavanaugh was 10-of-15 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three, as well as 4-of-4 from the foul line. He also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Patrick Steeves added 17 points to the Colonials’ cause.
Toledo was paced by Jaelan Sandford, who virtually matched Cavanaugh, netting 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor, which included a 3-of-9 effort from three. Steve Taylor Jr. added 18 points and eight rebounds.
Both teams shot well as GW hit on 49.1 percent of its shots while Toledo shot 50.9 percent.
