In the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) semifinal on March 25, 2025, Illinois State Redbirds defeated the Incarnate Word Cardinals 78-73 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Incarnate Word led for over 31 minutes and held a 70-68 advantage with less than 90 seconds remaining after a layup by Dylan Hayman. However, Illinois State closed the game with a 10-point surge in the final 65 seconds to secure the win.

Chase Walker led the Redbirds with 27 points and eight rebounds. Ty Pence contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Johnny Kinziger added 13 points.

For the Cardinals, Hayman scored 24 points, with Jalin Anderson, Davion Bailey, and Jordan Pyke adding 16, 14, and 13 points respectively. Incarnate Word shot 39.7% from the field and 20% from three-point range.
